PRIDE RINGS

A campus supply representative will be here on February 1st to show pride rings to the junior high students. If you wish to have your child purchase one, the representative will return on Friday to take orders.

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Vic Poole for winning the Hale County Spelling Bee. On Janury 22nd Vic represented Hale County High School in the county spelling bee. Vic successfully spelled the word hypocritical to win the competition. Vic advances to the state competition at Oak Mountain High School on March 6th. At Oak Mountain, Vic will compete against winners from all other schools in the state for an opportunity to win an all expenses paid trip for two and compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Once again we would like to congratulate Vic on this accomplishment and wish him success in the state competition.

Weather Warn meeting

James Spann and the ABC 33/40 Weather team will be coming to Hale County in February. The news team will be coming to Hale County High School to present their annual Weather Warn presentation. They will have segments on the 5 and 6 o'clock news from the gymnasium. The presentation will follow and James and his team will provide very meaningful and valuable information. Please plan to attend and come early. This presentation usually draws a very large crowd.

Beauty Walk

There are signup sheets in the office for the Hale County High School Beauty Pageant. Deadlines to enter are January 15th.

H1N1 Vaccine

Students will receive the H1N1 vaccine on January 19th at HCHS. Students were given an information packet on Monday, January 11th. Parents need to return the permission page if they wish to allow their child to be vaccinated.

PTO Meeting

PTO will meet on January 19th at 6pm in the evening. We will discuss upcoming PTO fundraisers including the Hale County High School Beauty Walk. Plans are to have a junior high demonstration of an AMSTI science lesson. Please make every effort to attend. Teachers will also be on hand to discuss students' grades. Report Cards were issued on Tuesday January 12th and STI Home is still available to parents to view grades, discipline and attendance.

Graduation Date

Hale County High School graduation is planned for Tuesday, May 25th at 6pm in the school gymnasium. There has been some question as to the date. Please put this date in your calendar for graduation. Seniors should check their senior supplies and all correspondence for correct information.
